A proteome-wide structural systems approach reveals insights into protein families of all human herpesviruses.

Structure predictions have become invaluable tools, but viral proteins are absent from the EMBL/DeepMind AlphaFold database. Here, we provide proteome-wide structure predictions for all nine human herpesviruses and analyze them in depth with explicit scoring thresholds. By clustering these predictions into structural similarity groups, we identified new families, such as the HCMV UL112-113 cluster, which is conserved in alpha- and betaherpesviruses.

Multiplexed Assay for Small-Molecule Quantification via Photo-cross-linking of Structure Switching Aptamers.

There is an unmet need for molecular detection assays that enable the multiplexed quantification of small-molecule analytes. We present xPlex, an assay that combines aptamer switches with ultraviolet-cross-linkable complementary strands to record target-binding events. When the aptamer's small-molecule target is present, the cross-linkable strand is displaced, enabling PCR amplification and detection of the relevant aptamer.

Background: Post-transplant or hematological cancer patients have a higher risk of mortality after infection with ancestral and early variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-CoV-2. Adoptive cell therapy (ACT) with virus-specific T cells (VSTs) could augment endogenous T cell immunity to avoid disease deterioration before viral clearance.

Methods: We established a third-party SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell (COVID-T) bank in 2020 (NCT04351659) using convalescent and/or vaccinated donors.

Rhabdomyolysis Associated With Mirtazapine and Quetiapine Therapy: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Rhabdomyolysis has been reported as a rare adverse effect of psychotropic use. This paper presents a case of rhabdomyolysis in a 39-year-old man with depression and substance use disorder. He had been started on quetiapine two months before and mirtazapine two weeks before developing symptoms of pain and weakness.
