Background: Calculated globulin fraction is derived from the liver function tests by subtracting albumin from the total protein. Since immunoglobulins comprise the largest component of the serum globulin concentration, increased or decreased calculated globulins and may identify patients with hypogammaglobulinaemia or hypergammaglobulinaemia, respectively.

Methods: A retrospective study of laboratory data over 2.

Orexins are highly involved in regulating the circadian rhythm, the brain's reward mechanism, and the neuroendocrine response to stress. The disruption of orexin regulation is known to be associated with depression. Preclinical studies in rodents have identified the dorsomedial/perifornical and lateral areas of the hypothalamus as the population of orexinergic neurons that are primarily responsible for mediating depression-induced neuroanatomical changes in the brain.

Background: The low contact stress (LCS) mobile-bearing total knee replacement (TKR) was designed to minimise polyethylene wear, aseptic loosening and osteolysis. However, registry data suggests there is a significantly greater revision rate associated. The primary aim of this study was to assess long-term survivorship of the LCS TKR performed at a single high-volume centre.

Background: Preclinical data suggest that an acute inflammatory response following myocardial infarction (MI) accelerates systemic atherosclerosis. Using combined positron emission and computed tomography, we investigated whether this phenomenon occurs in humans.

Methods And Results: Overall, 40 patients with MI and 40 with stable angina underwent thoracic 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose combined positron emission and computed tomography scan.
