Polychloroprene rubber (CR) is one of the most abundantly used elastomer in power transmission belt section due to its excellent oil resistance, weather resistance, antistatic and dynamic properties. However, due to the negative impact of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) used with CR rubber towards marine environment, it is necessary to minimize the use of ZnO in CR based rubber compounds. Functionalized-ZnO(F-ZnO) being emerged as a suitable replacement for regular ZnO in rubber compounding, the effect of F-ZnO on the curing, mechanical and morphological properties of polychloroprene (CR) based composites to use in power transmission belt applications are evaluated in this work.

Article Synopsis
  • Pterospermum rubiginosum, a plant used by tribal healers in India, shows potential for treating inflammation and pain, particularly in healing fractured bones, highlighting the need for deeper understanding of its medicinal properties.
  • The study aims to analyze the plant's components, conduct toxicity tests, and evaluate its anti-inflammatory effects, particularly using a macrophage cell model induced with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
  • Results indicate the presence of several bioactive compounds (like vanillic acid) and demonstrate promising anti-inflammatory effects, with significant interactions noted in molecular docking studies.

The novel SARS-CoV-2 virus influenced the world severely in the first half of 2020 caused shut down of all kind of human activities. It is reported that a word-wide ecological improvement in terms of air quality and water quality during this lock down period. In the present study, an attempt has been made to study the progression in water quality through examining suspended particulate matter using remote sensing data in a tropical Ramsar site viz, Asthamudi Lake in Southern India.
