The integration of 'Registry-based Randomised Control Trials' (RRCT) into national registries has the potential to catalyse prospective research, enhancing the evidence base for practice. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of embedding a trial within the UK Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry. This was a national observational, multi-centre study.

Is physical exercise effective in improving pain, functional mobility and quality of life in individuals with hip osteoarthritis? A systematic review with meta-analysis.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of physical exercise and its implications on pain, functional mobility (FM) and quality of life (QoL) in individuals with isolated hip osteoarthritis (HO).

Design: Intervention systematic review.

Literature Search: Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, CENTRAL (Cochrane) and PEDro were searched for studies evaluating the effect of exercise on pain, FM and QoL in people with HO from the first publication until August 2022.

Medium-term results of arthroscopic hip surgery compared with physiotherapy and activity modification for the treatment of femoroacetabular impingement syndrome: a multi-centre randomised controlled trial.

Objective: To report a 3-year follow-up from the FemoroAcetabular Impingement Trial, comparing arthroscopic surgery with physiotherapy in the management of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome for the dual primary outcomes of radiographic hip osteoarthritis (OA) and patient-reported outcome measures of activities of daily living.

Methods: Two-group parallel, assessor-blinded, pragmatic randomised controlled trial across seven sites. 222 participants aged 18-60 years with FAI syndrome confirmed clinically and radiologically were randomised (1:1) to receive arthroscopic hip surgery (n=112) or physiotherapy (n=110).
