Ammonium (NH ) concentration is critical to both nutrient availability and nitrogen (N) loss in soil ecosystems but can be highly variable across spatial and temporal scales. For this reason, effectively informing agricultural practices such as fertilizer management and understanding of mechanisms of soil N loss require sensor technologies to monitor ammonium concentrations in real time. Our work investigates the performance of fully printed ammonium ion-selective sensors used in diverse soil environments.

Cancers invoke various pathways to mitigate external and internal stresses to continue their growth and progression. We previously reported that the eIF2 kinase GCN2 and the integrated stress response are constitutively active in prostate cancer (PCa) and are required to maintain amino acid homeostasis needed to fuel tumor growth. However, although loss of GCN2 function reduces intracellular amino acid availability and PCa growth, there is no appreciable cell death.

Etrasimod (ADP334) is an oral, once-daily, selective sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) receptor modulator for the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis and in development for the treatment of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Interaction between S1P and its five receptor subtypes (S1P-S1P) plays a role in several physiologic systems, including the cardiovascular and immune systems. Since differences in S1PR binding and downstream intracellular signaling could contribute to distinct profiles of drug efficacy and safety, we directly compared the S1P selectivity profile of etrasimod to three marketed S1PR modulators: fingolimod, ozanimod, and siponimod.

This covers discovery and mechanistic aspects as well as initial applications of novel ionization processes for use in mass spectrometry that guided us in a series of subsequent discoveries, instrument developments, and commercialization. matrix-assisted ionization on an intermediate pressure matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization source the use of a laser, high voltages, or any other added energy was simply unbelievable, at first. Individually and as a whole, the various discoveries and inventions started to paint, , an exciting new picture and outlook in mass spectrometry from which key developments grew that were at the time unimaginable, and continue to surprise us in its simplistic preeminence.

Bipolar latissimus dorsi transfer has been considered a viable option for the restoration of elbow flexion in patients with large traumatic defects of the anterior arm compartment. Advantages of bipolar transfer of the latissimus include stabilization of the anterior shoulder joint in addition to recreating the biceps for a direct line of pull in restoring elbow flexion with minimal donor site morbidity. Previous literature in bipolar latissimus transfer has demonstrated good outcomes in elbow flexion against gravity, range of motion, and patient satisfaction.
