Introduction: Pathophysiological differences between heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) remain poorly understood. Therefore, we performed pathway analyses from whole blood transcriptomics to distinguish HFpEF from HFrEF.

Methods: Lexogen's QuantSeq was used to carry out whole blood transcriptomics in 500 patients with HF (HFpEF n=250, HFrEF n=250).

Background: Upper extremity lymphedema (UEL) and lower extremity lymphedema (LEL) can develop as a result of lymph node dissection in the treatment of various malignancies. While emerging microsurgical interventions using lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) show promising outcomes for patients with lymphedema, the best approach to implementing the two procedures remains to be defined. This systematic review and meta-analysis provide a comprehensive overview of published literature on the clinical improvement of extremity lymphedema in patients who undergo either LVA, VLNT, or a combined microsurgical procedure.

Solid-state single-photon emitters provide a versatile platform for exploring quantum technologies such as optically connected quantum networks. A key challenge is to ensure the optical coherence and spectral stability of the emitters. Here, we introduce a high-bandwidth 'check-probe' scheme to quantitatively measure (laser-induced) spectral diffusion and ionisation rates, as well as homogeneous linewidths.

To investigate the effect of vitamin C supplementation with or without flavonoids on periodontal conditions, and microbial and systemic variables before and after non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT). A case series derived from a randomized controlled trial was conducted to explore the effects of daily vitamin C supplementation, with or without flavonoids, on periodontal conditions. The study population was recruited from patients with periodontitis who had been referred to the Department of Periodontology at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA).

Background: Lower extremity lymphedema (LEL) can develop because of inguinal lymph node dissection in the treatment of gynecologic, genitourinary, and dermatological malignancies. To optimize patient counseling and patient selection for microsurgical interventions aimed at preventing or treating LEL, its prevalence and associated patient characteristics must be accurately documented. This systematic review and meta-analysis provides a comprehensive overview of literature on the reported prevalence of LEL in patients undergoing inguinal lymphadenectomy.
