An efficient visible-light-induced radical carbon oximation of styrenes with 1-nitrosopyrrolidine and organic halides is developed. The reaction proceeds smoothly in the absence of a transition metal and a photocatalyst under mild conditions, producing a wide range of functionalized oximes in moderate to good yields. Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction involves the generation of nucleophilic α-amino alkyl radicals and subsequent halogen atom transfer (XAT) with organic halides.

To explore the epidemiological characteristics of public health emergency events (PHEE) of varicella in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and analyze its related influencing factors. Excel was used to organize the varicella data in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2006 to 2021, reported by the management information system of PHEE, to describe the epidemiological characteristics of varicella events. Spatial autocorrelation and spatial scanning methods were used to test and determine its spatial clusters.

In recent years, the prevalence of extremely high-temperature climates, has led to an increase in cases of acute heat stress, which has been identified as a contributing factor to various kidney diseases. Fructose, the end product of the polyol pathway, has been linked to kidney conditions such as kidney stones, chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. However, the relationship between acute heat stress and kidney injury caused by endogenous fructose remains unclear.

Background/objectives: Pediatric patients with sepsis are frequently subjected to red blood cell (RBC) transfusions but yet its association with mortality is still controversial.

Methods: We consecutively selected 125 patients with sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) in our center from January 2022 to January 2023, and finally 100 patients were included in this retrospective cohort study. The patients were divided into two groups: group I who received RBC transfusion and group II who did not receive RBC transfusion.

Introduction: More and more evidence suggesting that internal carotid artery stenosis is not only a risk factor for ischemic stroke but also for cognitive impairments. Hypoperfusion and silent micro emboli have been reported as the pathophysiological mechanisms causing cognitive impairment. The effect of carotid artery stenting (CAS) on cognitive function varied from study to study.
