Returning to Work is Associated with Higher Quality of Life: A LIMB-Q Analysis in Patients with Limb-Threatening Injuries.

Objectives: To identify clinical, demographic, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) associated with return to work after lower extremity traumatic injury requiring amputation or limb salvage.

Methods: Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Multi-center across 25 countries.

Preoperative perforator mapping of anterolateral thigh perforators via Projected Augmented Reality and Dynamic Infrared Thermography.

Background: The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is a reliable and versatile flap with the ideal characteristics for soft-tissue reconstruction. However, as it is known for its highly variable anatomy, it requires preoperative perforator localization to optimize flap design and dissection of the flap. Dynamic Infrared Thermography (DIRT) is a non-invasive and quick imaging method that provides real-time information.

Free Fasciocutaneous versus Muscle Flaps in Lower Extremity Reconstruction: Implications for Functionality and Quality of Life.

Background:  Free tissue transplantations are commonly used to treat complex lower extremity defects caused by trauma, vascular disease, or malignancy, particularly when vital structures are exposed. This study aimed to expand the knowledge on patient-reported outcomes by comparing fasciocutaneous and muscle flaps, with the goal of facilitating patient counseling. Additionally, patient-level risk factors associated with decreased functioning and health-related quality of life were identified.

Trapeziometacarpal total joint arthroplasty, with or without supervised hand rehabilitation: A quasi-experimental trial.

Introduction: Aim of this study was to determine whether postoperative supervised rehabilitation improves functional outcomes after trapeziometacarpal (TMC) total joint arthroplasty (TJA), compared to education alone.

Method: A quasi-experimental before-after trial included 31 women (≥40 years) per group diagnosed with trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis who underwent TJA. A cohort ( = 31) who was given education alone was compared to a cohort ( = 31) who were subjected to supervised rehabilitation.

Sleep quality after autologous breast reconstruction.

Background: Sleep is a fundamental aspect of human health and well-being, but is often interrupted in a hospital setting. Especially after surgery, poor sleep quality can negatively affect postoperative recovery and quality of life. Therefore, the aim of this study was to gain insights into the quality of sleep in patients after autologous breast reconstruction and evaluate factors associated with the quality of sleep.
