Lampbrush chromosomes, with their unusually high rate of nascent RNA synthesis, provide a valuable model for studying mechanisms of global transcriptome up-regulation. Here, we obtained a whole-genomic profile of transcription along the entire length of all lampbrush chromosomes in the chicken karyotype. With nuclear RNA-seq, we obtained information about a wider set of transcripts, including long non-coding RNAs retained in the nucleus and stable intronic sequence RNAs.

Hybrid porous polymers based on poly-EGDMA and polylactide containing vancomycin, the concentration of which in the polymer varied by two orders of magnitude, were synthesized. The processes of polymer biodegradation and vancomycin release were studied in the following model media: phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), trypsin-Versene solution, and trypsin-PBS solution. The maximum antibiotic release was recorded during the first 3 h of extraction.

The assembling of thiacalix[4]arene-based dendrimers in , , and configuration on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode coated with carbon black or multiwalled carbon nanotubes has been characterized using cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Native and damaged DNA were electrostatically accumulated on the modifier layer. The influence of the charge of the redox indicator and of the macrocycle/DNA ratio was quantified and the roles of the electrostatic interactions and of the diffusional transfer of the redox indicator to the electrode interface indicator access were established.

Background: The three-dimensional configuration of the eukaryotic genome is an emerging area of research. Chromosome conformation capture outlined genome segregation into large scale A and B compartments corresponding mainly to transcriptionally active and repressive chromatin. It remains unknown how the compartmentalization of the genome changes in growing oocytes of animals with hypertranscriptional type of oogenesis.
