The elimination of lymphatic filariasis (LF) as a public health problem remains an ongoing challenge in the Pacific region. This study reports on antigen (Ag) and microfilaria (Mf) prevalence in Samoa in 2019, 7-9 months after the completion of the first round of triple-drug mass drug administration (MDA). It evaluates the effectiveness of the intervention for reducing Ag prevalence to below a 2% threshold, and how this differs between 5-9-year-olds and ≥10-year-olds.

Problem: Over the past two decades, there has been increased recognition of the importance of a more holistic approach to preventing, predicting, detecting and responding to public health threats. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need to bring together environmental, human and animal health sectors in addressing public health threats and the need to develop skilled front-line workers to act as surge capacity during health emergencies.
Context: Papua New Guinea is a high-risk country for emerging and re-emerging pathogens.
Aim: To explore newly qualified nurses and midwives' experience of continuing professional development (CPD) and factors associated with CPD participation during newly qualified nurses and midwives' transition, such as job satisfaction and intention to leave.
Background: Newly qualified nurses and midwives find it difficult to make the transition to their first registered post. During the transition, professional support through CPD is essential to build competence and confidence and increase job satisfaction and retention.

The equine uterus is highly interrogated during estrus prior to breeding and establishing pregnancy. Many studies in mares have been performed during estrus under the influence of high estrogen concentrations, including the equine estrual microbiome. To date, it is unknown how the uterine microbiome of the mare is influenced by cyclicity; while, the equine vaginal microbiome is stable throughout the estrous cycle.
