Dorsal Corporoplasty Techniques in the Management of Chordee Associated with Severe Hypospadias at a Teaching Hospital in Yaoundé, Cameroon: A Retrospective Study.

Introduction: The prevalence of hypospadias is 1 in 300 male births, of whom one in four will have some form of chordee. Correction of the chordee is imperative but presents a challenge with complications, including residual chordee, penile nodulations, and shortening. This study aimed at reporting the outcomes and at sharing our experience with the surgical correction of chordee associated with hypospadias at the Yaounde Gyneco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital (YGOPH).

Effect of Different Carbon Sources on Biosurfactants' Production by Three Strains of spp.

The potential of three indigenous bacterial strains ( N2, TM1, and G88) for the production of biosurfactants using sugar cane molasses or glycerol as substrates was investigated through emulsifying, surface tension, and antimicrobial activities. Patients And Method: All children operated for ICS at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé from January 2000 to December 2008 were retrospectively included.

Hydrocephalus in toddlers: the place of shunts in sub-Sahara African countries.

Purpose: This study describes the epidemiological patterns of hydrocephalus in toddlers in our setting in order to determine the proportion of those who could benefit from endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV).

Methods: This prospective and descriptive study included all toddlers operated on for hydrocephalus from 1 March 2008 to 31 March 2010 at the Yaounde Central Hospital.

Results: Forty-six toddlers were included representing 72% of all hydrocephalus cases managed at the Neurosurgery Unit during the study period.
