[Prehospital analgesia with femoral nerve block following lower extremity injury. A 107 cases survey].

Objective: Femoral Nerve Block (FNB) has been proposed for femoral fracture analgesia in a prehospital setting.

Methods: Descriptive case-series survey. All suspected femoral fractures that were managed by our extrahospital service and had a femoral block were prospectively included.

Regeneration of long-tract axons through sites of spinal cord injury using templated agarose scaffolds.

Previously we reported that templated agarose scaffolds can orient and guide local spinal cord axons after injury. In the present study we examined whether growth of long-projecting spinal cord axons could also be promoted into, and then beyond, templated agarose scaffolds placed into a spinal cord lesion site. Ascending spinal cord dorsal column sensory axons were transected at the C4 level.

[Sciatic nerve block in prehospital care].

Objectives: Evaluate the analgesic efficiency of the sciatic nerve block in prehospital care at the time of some severe legs or feet traumas.

Patients And Methods: Retrospective, monocentric study upon a period of time 1998-2008.

Results: Twenty-three sciatic nerve blocks have been colligated, five by upper way and heighten by lateral popliteal lower way among which fourteen without neurostimulator.

[Knowledge of HIV and sexually-transmitted diseases in Latin American and Maghrebi immigrants in Catalonia (Spain)].

Objectives: To describe and compare levels of knowledge about HIV/AIDS and condom use in the immigrant population.

Method: We performed a cross-sectional study by means of a semi-structured questionnaire and face-to face interviews in 238 Latin American and Maghrebi users of medical centers in the Barcelona and North Barcelona-Maresme health areas. The questionnaire included sociodemographic variables and questions on sexual behavior and general knowledge about HIV/AIDS, transmission mechanisms, and means of prevention.
