Generational Diet-Induced Obesity Remodels the Omental Adipose Proteome in Female Mice.

Obesity, a complex condition that involves genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors, is a non-infectious pandemic that affects over 650 million adults worldwide with a rapidly growing prevalence. A major contributor is the consumption of high-fat diets, an increasingly common feature of modern diets. Maternal obesity results in an increased risk of offspring developing obesity and related health problems; however, the impact of maternal diet on the adipose tissue composition of offspring has not been evaluated.

Combination non-targeted and sGRP78-targeted nanoparticle drug delivery outperforms either component to treat metastatic ovarian cancer.

Metastatic ovarian cancer (MOC) is highly deadly, due in part to the limited efficacy of standard-of-care chemotherapies to metastatic tumors and non-adherent cancer cells. Here, we demonstrated the effectiveness of a combination therapy of GRP78-targeted (TNP) and non-targeted (NP) nanoparticles to deliver a novel DM1-prodrug to MOC in a syngeneic mouse model. Cell surface-GRP78 is overexpressed in MOC, making GRP78 an optimal target for selective delivery of nanoparticles to MOC.

Food intolerances are prevalent and often confused with food allergies. This article reviews the complex landscape of adverse reactions to food, distinguishing between immune-mediated responses (food allergies) and nonimmune reactions (food intolerances). It also explores specific food intolerances such as lactose intolerance, nonceliac gluten sensitivity, fructose intolerance, and salicylate sensitivity.
