Advances in fundus imaging are revealing disruptions in the neurovascular unit in diabetic retinopathy (DR). In the era of anti-VEGF treatment, a thorough characterization of neurodegeneration is imperative until DR patients are sufficiently cured. Here we demonstrate that extracellular mitochondria exacerbate retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) degeneration and inflammation in DR.

Background And Study Aims: Prophylactic clip closure after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) among patients on anticoagulants is of uncertain effectiveness in reducing delayed bleeding (DB) risk. We aimed to assess the effect of prophylactic clip closure in preventing DB after colorectal ESD among patients on anticoagulants.

Patients And Methods: We used the ABCD-J study database, a large-scale multicenter study analyzing DB among 34,455 colorectal ESD cases from 47 Japanese institutions.

Oxidation states and distribution of arsenic (As) in annually laminated (varved) lacustrine deposits were analyzed with a seasonal resolution. This deposit was formed in the mid-Holocene landslide-dammed paleolake in the upper reaches of the Ane River, central Japan and the paleolake watershed consists of the Jurassic accretionary complexes (Mino-Tamba belt) including sedimentary and igneous rocks. In the outcrop, centimeter-to-decimeter-scale silty clay layers alternating with laminated layers are well developed.

A GGGGCC hexanucleotide repeat expansion (HRE) within the C9orf72 gene is a major causative factor in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This aberrant HRE results in the generation of five distinct dipeptide repeat proteins (DPRs). Among the DPRs, poly-PR accumulates in the nucleus and exhibits particularly strong toxicity to motor and cortical neurons.

Dental pulp (DP) is a connective tissue composed of various cell types, including fibroblasts, neurons, adipocytes, endothelial cells, and odontoblasts. It contains a rich supply of pluripotent stem cells, making it an important resource for cell-based regenerative medicine. However, current stem cell collection methods rely heavily on the enzymatic digestion of dissected DP tissue to isolate and propagate primary cells, which often results in low recovery rates and reduced cell survival, particularly from deciduous teeth.
