The members of the imidazole family have been widely used for electron transporting, host, conventional fluorescent, and phosphorescent materials. Although the imidazole core also has great potential as an acceptor segment of deep-blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) owing to its high triplet energy, the emission color of imidazole-based TADF organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) has so far been limited to blue to green. PSO was found to enhance hydration in the headgroup region of DPPC bilayers. We have studied the phase behavior of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) containing sodium β-sitosteryl sulfate (PSO). PSO was found to lower the phase transition temperature of DPPC to a higher degree than cholesterol or β-sitosterol. It also gave rise to the formation of a modulated (ripple) phase (P) at low to moderate concentrations.

These properties were assessed using static surface tension, pyrene fluorescence, and dynamic light scattering measurements. The interfacial properties were strongly dependent on the solution composition.
