In this paper, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, signal demodulation algorithm is proposed for the problem of severe scintillation of the received optical irradiance due to turbulence in ultraviolet (UV) communication scenarios. The algorithm innovatively proposes a signal probability model based on the UV turbulence characteristic and derives the optimal solution with dual judgment thresholds. The algorithm can provide a low bit error rate (BER) in scenarios with long distances and large elevation angles and solves the problem of severe degradation of demodulating performance of traditional algorithms, especially in a moderate and strong turbulence channel.

Asymmetric architecture of AB-type block copolymers can induce additional spontaneous curvature to the A/B interface, accordingly deflecting the phase boundaries. However, it is often difficult to determine or compare the asymmetric effects of different asymmetric architectures. In this work, we proposed to use the equivalent arm number , which was originally defined as = /iĐ for AB with unequal B-arms and iĐ being the intramolecular polydispersity of these B-arms, to quantify the asymmetric effect of various linear-hyperbranched copolymers.

Interactions between proteins and polyphenols are essential for the functional properties of foods. This study explores the non-covalent interactions between Sacha Inchi protein (SIP) and quercetin (Que) and examines the physicochemical characteristics of their complex. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Circular dichroism indicated that Que could interact with SIP and change the secondary structure of SIP.

Background: Cardiac output (CO) monitoring is essential for diagnosing and managing critically ill patients. Recently, a non-invasive haemodynamic monitoring technique, electrical cardiometry (EC), has gathered increasing interest among ICU physicians. This study aimed to explore the accuracy of CO estimated by non-invasive EC (CO) compared to CO determined by transpulmonary thermodilution (CO) and to evaluate the ability of CO to track CO changes (ΔCO).
