[Study of the impact of intramyocardial implantation of stem cells on myocardial perfusion and contractility in patients with coronary heart disease concurrent with postinfarct cardiosclerosis and chronic heart failure].

Objective: to study of intramyocardial implantation of cultured bone marrow stem cells on myocardial perfusion and contractility in the surgical treatment of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and chronic heart failure (CHF), by synchronized single-photon emission computed tomography (SSPECT) of the myocardium.

Subjects And Methods: The study included 11 patients. Intramyocardial injection of cell injections into the myocardial periscarring areas was made at coronary bypass surgery.

Cardiac cells possess limited ability to regeneration. Therefore acute myocardial infarction results in replacement of "perished" cardiomyocytes by scar tissue. The consequence of this is lowering of myocardial contractile function and development of heart failure.

[Plasminogen activator of urokinase-type: mechanisms of involvement in vessel remodeling and angiogenesis, gene therapy approaches to ischemia].

The review summarizes data obtained by the authors and other laboratories concerning the role of urokinase plasminogen activator in vessel remodeling and angiogenesis. The data have shown that urokinase is involved in unfavorable vascular remodeling during the development of restenosis, atherosclerosis and also in the regulation of angiogenesis. Urokinase is a promising target for therapeutic interventions aimed at restenosis prevention.
