Translational research needs to show value through impact on measures that matter to the public, including health and societal benefits. To this end, the Translational Science Benefits Model (TSBM) identified four categories of impact: Clinical, Community, Economic, and Policy. However, TSBM offers limited guidance on how these areas of impact relate to equity.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: In the United States, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) health care providers are important to the nursing workforce but often face challenges when taking the NCLEX-RN examination. This study evaluated the effects of removing slang and words with multiple meanings from high-stakes examination questions.
Method: This study used a quantitative, experimental posttest-only control group design and included a convenience sample of 169 nursing students from a college in southern Florida.
Background: Two surgical approaches have emerged for axillary staging in cN1 breast cancer patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC): sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) and targeted axillary dissection (TAD). Direct comparisons of technical and oncological outcomes with SLNB versus TAD are lacking.
Methods: We routinely performed SLNB from 2017 to 2018 for cN1 breast cancer patients who converted to cN0 after NAC, then adopted TAD from 2019 to 2022.
There are 574 federally recognized Tribes in the United States. Tribes have experienced increased rates of domestic violence (DV) due to structural determinants like gender violence, loss of control, discrimination, marginalization, oppression, and political violence. American Indian and Alaska Native girls and women experience the highest rates of DV and abuse in the US, yet policy change, funding, and advocacy has been slow to address high DV rates.
