Gathering observational data for medical decision-making often involves uncertainties arising from both type I (false positive) and type II (false negative) errors. In this work, we develop a statistical model to study how medical decision-making can be improved by aggregating results from repeated diagnostic and screening tests. Our approach is relevant to not only clinical settings such as medical imaging, but also to public health, as highlighted by the need for rapid, cost-effective testing methods during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Background: Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a potentially fatal condition which is always secondary to an underlying disorder with abruption being the most common cause in obstetrics.Our study analysed the modified International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis DIC score for prediction of DIC in cases of abruptio placentae. Additionally, we correlated the score with severity of abruption to optimize its use in limited resource settings.

Interfacial engineering is considered an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical water-splitting activity of catalysts by modulating the local electronic structure to expose more active sites. Therefore, we report a platinum-cobaltic oxide nanosheets (Pt/CoO NSs) with plentiful grain boundary as the efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting. The Pt/CoO NSs exhibit a low overpotential of 55 and 201 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm for the hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction in 1.

Cell signaling pathways are enriched for biological processes crucial for cellular communication, response to external stimuli, and metabolism. Here, a cell signaling-focused CRISPR screen identified cytochrome c oxidase subunit 4 isoform 1 (COX4I1) as a novel vulnerability in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Depletion of COX4I1 hindered leukemia cell proliferation and impacted in vivo AML progression.
