During the routine practice of fine needle aspiration of the breast, two tubular adenomas were encountered. The patients were 46 and 69 years of age. In one case the appearances indicated a benign epithelial proliferative lesion, while in the other, epithelial atypia necessitated surgical excision.

From 1978 to 1982, 172 patients with stages T1 to 3NxM0 prostate cancer were included in a surveillance protocol with deferred treatment on symptomatic progression. Median patient age at diagnosis was 68 years (range 38 to 89 years). Mean followup was 80 +/- 32 months.

A follow up of a cohort of 736 healthy full term children with exposure to cows' milk based formula and breast milk from donors on the maternity ward was performed. The children were divided into three exposure groups according to the feeding patterns on the maternity ward. Group 1 received only mother's milk, group 2 mother's milk and human donors' milk, and group 3 received mother's milk, donors' milk and cows' milk based formula.

A series of 122 patients with a cytological diagnosis of well or moderately differentiated and clinically localised (T1-2) prostatic carcinoma were followed up without any initial anti-tumour therapy. The median observation time was 91 months. During follow-up the local tumour progressed to stage T3 in 67 patients (55%) and distant metastases developed in 17 (14%); 47 patients died (38%), 9 of them (7%) from prostatic carcinoma.
