Free space optical link to a tethered balloon for frequency transfer and chronometric geodesy.

We present the results of an optical link to a corner cube on board a tethered balloon at 300 m altitude including a Tip/Tilt compensation for the balloon tracking. Our experiment measures the carrier phase of a 1542 nm laser, which is the useful signal for frequency comparison of distant clocks. An active phase noise compensation of the carrier is implemented, demonstrating a fractional frequency stability of 8 × 10 after 16 s averaging, which slightly (factor ∼ 3) improves on best previous links via an airborne platform.

Rotation related systematic effects in a cold atom interferometer onboard a Nadir pointing satellite.

We study the effects of rotations on a cold atom accelerometer onboard a Nadir pointing satellite. A simulation of the satellite attitude combined with a calculation of the phase of the cold atom interferometer allow us to evaluate the noise and bias induced by rotations. In particular, we evaluate the effects associated to the active compensation of the rotation due to Nadir pointing.

A 24-Year-Old Woman With Cough, Arthralgia, and Skin Ulcerations.

A 24-year-old Senegalese woman without remarkable history except anemia and iron deficiency related to excessive menstrual bleeding and sickle cell trait was admitted to our internal medicine department with 4-month fever, weight loss (-13 kg), dyspnea for limited efforts, intermittent productive cough, and bilateral metacarpophalangeal (MCP) and interphalangeal arthralgia. She was born and lived in France. She traveled previously to Senegal in 2015.

Thermal therapy for Sporothrix endogenous endophthalmitis of the anterior segment.

Purpose: To report a case of Sporothrix shenkii endophthalmitis successfully treated with local thermal therapy after failure of conventional systemic and local antifungal therapy.

Observations: A 44-year-old female on long-term immunosuppressive therapy for extrapulmonary sarcoidosis presented with bilateral Sporothrix shenkii endophthalmitis. Despite prolonged systemic antifungal therapy, numerous intraocular antifungal injections, and surgical intervention with vitrectomy and lensectomy, her condition worsened with progressively increased fungal burden in the anterior chamber.

Hemorrhagic choroidal detachment as the presenting sign of uveal melanoma.

Purpose: To describe two cases of medium-sized uveal melanoma presenting with hemorrhagic choroidal detachments.

Observations: The first case is a 39-year-old man who presented with choroidal hemorrhage and angle closure glaucoma. The second case is a 42-year-old man who presented with choroidal hemorrhage and posterior scleritis.
