Article Synopsis
  • This study compares the Artec Leo hand-held scanner and the iPad Pro for 3D body surface scanning, focusing on capturing data related to 'dropped head syndrome' in cervical and craniofacial areas.
  • Eighteen volunteers were tested multiple times with both devices, measuring surface area, scanning time, and participant comfort to assess precision, accuracy, and reliability through various metrics.
  • Results showed no significant differences in overall scanning precision or time, with both devices achieving high accuracy levels under 5%, but the iPad Pro was noted as a effective alternative for clinical use in head and neck assessments.
