Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressing and rare neurodegenerative disease. Therefore, evaluating the risk factors affecting the survival of patients with ALS is crucial. Constipation, a common but overlooked symptom of ALS, can be effectively managed.

This study aim is to elucidate the relationship between the microbial community dynamics and the production of volatile flavor compounds during the fermentation process of bacterial-type i. Using high-throughput sequencing (HTS) and headspace solid-phase microextraction, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was used to investigate microbial diversity and volatile compound profiles at different fermentation stages. Spearman correlation analysis was employed to identify potential associations between microbial genera and flavor compounds.

Jiangzhi Granule Ameliorates JNK-Mediated Mitochondrial Dysfunction to Reduce Lipotoxic Liver Injury in NASH.

Purpose: Mitochondrial dysfunction mediated by c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) plays an important role in lipotoxic liver injury in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). This study aims to investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Jiangzhi Granule (JZG), a Chinese herbal formula against NASH, with a focus on its regulation of JNK signaling-mediated mitochondrial function.

Methods: Hepatocytes were induced by palmitic acid (PA) for 24 h to establish an in vitro lipotoxic model, which was simultaneously treated with either JZG or vehicle control.

Associations of dietary choline intake and kidney function with hyperuricemia in Chinese children and adolescents: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Limited studies have suggested an effect of dietary choline intake on uric acid levels. We aim to investigate the associations between choline intake and hyperuricemia (HUA), as well as the mediating role of kidney function in this relationship, among the Chinese population aged 6-17 years.

Methods: Participants were divided into quartiles according to residual energy-adjusted dietary choline intake in our cross-sectional study.
