Deep learning identifies morphological patterns of homologous recombination deficiency in luminal breast cancers from whole slide images.

Homologous recombination DNA-repair deficiency (HRD) is becoming a well-recognized marker of platinum salt and polyADP-ribose polymerase inhibitor chemotherapies in ovarian and breast cancers. While large-scale screening for HRD using genomic markers is logistically and economically challenging, stained tissue slides are routinely acquired in clinical practice. With the objectives of providing a robust deep-learning method for HRD prediction from tissue slides and identifying related morphological phenotypes, we first show that digital pathology workflows are sensitive to potential biases in the training set, then we propose a method to overcome the influence of these biases, and we develop an interpretation method capable of identifying complex phenotypes.

[Fatal nutrient deficiencies after gastric bypass].

Case Report: We report the case of a 55-year-old woman who was admitted for psychomotor retardation, bilateral leg pitting edema and psoriasis-like rash that had been ongoing for 3 months.

Coagulation disorders during treatment with cefazolin and rifampicin: rare but dangerous.

We describe a 79-year-old man with spondylodiscitis and unknown pathogen, treated with cefazolin and rifampicin. He developed a massive digestive hemorrhage. Prothrombin time was prolonged with severe vitamin-K-dependent clotting-factor deficiency.

[Late bone metastases of a pheochromocytoma].

Pheochromocytoma is a usually benign tumor of chromaffin tissue (90% of cases). We report a 77-year-old patient with a past medical history of surgically removed pheochromocytoma that was considered to be "benign", who presented with secondary bone metastases 5 years later. A treatment combining radiation and interferon allowed to control the metastatic lesions.
