The ETC generates an electrochemical gradient, known as the proton motive force, consisting of the mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨ, the major component in mammals) and ΔpH across the inner mitochondrial membrane. Both ATP production and reactive oxygen species (ROS) are linked to ΔΨ, and it has been shown that an imbalance in ΔΨ beyond the physiological optimal intermediate range results in excessive ROS production.

Individually and as a whole, the various discoveries and inventions started to paint, , an exciting new picture and outlook in mass spectrometry from which key developments grew that were at the time unimaginable, and continue to surprise us in its simplistic preeminence.

Mitochondrial dynamics are highly active and consequential during neuronal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Mitochondrial fusion is executed at the mitochondrial inner membrane by Opa1.

Rapid assessment of the effects of these exposures on neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 infection is crucial for informing vaccine strategy and epidemic management. We aimed to investigate heterogeneity in individual-level and population-level antibody kinetics to emerging variants by previous SARS-CoV-2 exposure history, to examine implications for real-time estimation, and to examine the effects of vaccine-campaign timing.
