Misperceptions strongly influence the extent to which individuals comply with preventative measures. Social support from others, particularly given widespread mistrust in news media among those holding misperceptions, plays an important role in shaping compliance with preventative measures. The impact of social support, however, is not straightforward and not all support results in greater compliance.

Sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) are transcription factors that reside in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane as inactive precursors. To be active, SREBPs are translocated to the Golgi where the transcriptionally active N-terminus is cleaved and released to the nucleus to regulate gene expression. Nuclear SREBP levels can be determined by immunoblot analysis; however, this method can only determine the steady-state levels of nuclear SREBPs and does not capture the actual status of activation.

Background: Conflict is known to impact maternal and neonatal health in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), an area of longstanding insecurity. We conducted a systematic review on pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in this region to provide a comprehensive overview of maternal and neonatal outcomes over a 20-year period.

Methods: We systematically searched databases, such as Medline, EMBASE, Global Health, ClinicalTrials.

Environmental factors play an important role in phenotypic development of fishes, which has implications for hatchery-reared fishes that are released into the wild where natural cues are present. There is interest in examining how early exposure to dietary odourants can affect development of olfaction. The aim of our study was to use behavioural, molecular and electro-physiological techniques to evaluate how introduction of the amino acid L-alanine to the rearing environment might influence the development of olfactory perception of dietary cues, growth and survival in lake sturgeon (), a species of conservation concern.

Uterine leiomyomata (fibroids, UFs) are common, benign tumors in females, having an estimated prevalence of up to 80%. They are fibrous masses growing within the myometrium leading to chronic symptoms like dysmenorrhea, abnormal uterine bleeding, anemia, severe pelvic pain, and infertility. Hypertension (HTN) is a common risk factor for UFs, though less prevalent in premenopausal individuals.
