Self- and Cross-Fusing of Furan-Based Polyurea Gels Dynamically Cross-Linked with Maleimides.

Bio-based polyureas (PUs) with main-chain furan rings were synthesized by the polyaddition of 2,5-bis(aminomethyl)furan with various diisocyanates, such as methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Several PU's were soluble in polar organic solvents, and were cast to form thermomechanically stable films with softening temperatures of over 100 °C. The furan rings of the PU main chains underwent a dynamic Diels-Alder (DA) reaction with bismaleimide (BMI) cross-linkers.

The aromatic diamine 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethylamine (4APEA) is a potential monomer for polymers and advanced materials. Here, 4APEA was produced by fermentation using genetically engineered Escherichia coli (Masuo et al.2016).

Effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident on behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia among patients.

Background: The Great East Japan Earthquake triggered accidents at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, becoming the first complex disaster that included both a natural and a nuclear power disaster. This study examines how complex disasters affect patients with dementia.

Methods: Participants included the 331 people diagnosed with dementia out of the 2482 new patients (between January 2008 and December 2015) at a psychiatric hospital located in the indoor sheltering zones nearby mandatory evacuation zones.

Differential diagnosis of memory impairment in areas affected by a natural disaster:a case report.

We treated a man with a chief complaint of memory impairment after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Initially, he was diagnosed with dementia. However, after several tests, neither could a definitive diagnosis of dementia be reached, nor was there any apparent evidence for depression, epilepsy, delirium, or internal medicine diseases.

Sphingobium sp. strain TCM1 can significantly degrade chlorinated organophosphorus flame retardants, such as tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate. The PhoK of strain TCM1 (Sb-PhoK) is the main alkaline phosphatase (APase) that catalyzes the last step in the degradation pathway.
