Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus spp.) have recently been shown to produce insecticidal bi-component protein complexes based on the aegerolysin proteins. A role for these proteins is thus indicated for defence and protection of the mushroom, and we propose their use as new environmentally friendly bioinsecticides.

The number of coronary interventions increased substantially in the recent years. Although of great benefit to patients, these procedures can subject patients to considerable radiation doses. There is a legal framework for patient dose measurements in Croatia during radiological procedures, but in practice, it applies only occasionally.

There are no compelling recommendations on the benefits of early revascularization strategy besides antithrombotic prophylaxis and statin treatment. Conversely, long-term prevalence of symptomatic cases in surgical patient cohorts is rarely reported in the literature.

Secondary arterio-enteric fistula: case report and review of the literature.

Arterio-enteric fistula is a rare, but potentially deadly cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. The disease occurs in two forms: primary as a result of atherosclerotic aortic aneurysm, aortitis, trauma, radiation, tumor invasion or penetrating ulcer, and secondary as a consequence of surgical aortal reconstruction. The clinical manifestation is mostly gastrointestinal bleeding, rarely back pain, fever and sepsis.
