Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is an endoribonuclease that catalyzes the processing of the 5' leader sequence of precursor tRNA (pre-tRNA). Ribonucleoprotein RNase P and protein-only RNase P (PRORP) in eukaryotes have been extensively studied, but the mechanism by which a prokaryotic nuclease recognizes and cleaves pre-tRNA is unclear. To gain insights into this mechanism, we studied homologs of Aquifex RNase P (HARPs), thought to be enzymes of approximately 23 kDa comprising only this nuclease domain.

The diameter of the pupil before stimulation was set as baseline (BPD) and, after a stimulus duration of 1 s, the post-illumination pupillary response (PIPR) was measured using an electronic pupillometer. The BPD showed no significant difference among three grades of nuclear sclerosis (NS).

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the contribution of receptoral and post-receptoral components of the retina to this phenomenon. To accomplish this, we examined the ERGs during light adaptation in Pikachurin null-mutant (Pika -/-) mice, which have a misalignment of the bipolar cell dendritic tips to the photoreceptor ribbon synapses.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe describe a rare case of pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma (ACC) with intraductal growth in a 77-year-old man, which was diagnosed by endoscopic brush cytology. Preoperative imaging revealed an ill-defined mass involving the main pancreatic duct of the body, which was suspected to be an invasive ductal carcinoma. Endoscopic brush cytology showed several thick, small to large clusters of tumor cells.
