Abnormal chromosome segregation (ACS) in preimplantation embryos causes miscarriages. For a normal pregnancy, it is necessary to reduce ACS occurrences in embryos. Article Synopsis
  • Obesity and age are key risk factors for sleep apnoea syndrome (SAS), but the impact of body mass index (BMI) on sleep quality in healthy older adults remains uncertain.
  • A study involving 32 active Japanese adults aged 83-95 explored the relationship between sleep parameters and BMI, revealing a high prevalence of moderate or severe SAS in both low and high BMI groups.
  • Results showed that in the high-BMI group, increased apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI) correlated negatively with sleep depth, while in the low-BMI group, the number of awakenings and age linked positively with AHI, suggesting that SAS can affect older adults regardless of BMI.

Mammalian embryos differentiate into the inner cell mass (ICM) and trophectoderm at the 8-16 cell stage. The ICM forms a single cluster that develops into a single fetus. However, the factors that determine differentiation and single cluster formation are unknown.

To facilitate selfish replication, viruses halt host gene expression in various ways. The nuclear export of mRNA is one such process targeted by many viruses. SARS-CoV-2, the etiological agent of severe acute respiratory syndrome, also prevents mRNA nuclear export.

All the currently used type A botulinum neurotoxins for clinical uses are of subtype A1. We compared the efficacy and safety for the first time head-to-head between a novel botulinum toxin A2NTX prepared from subtype A2 and onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX) derived from A1 for post-stroke spasticity. We assessed the modified Ashworth scale (MAS) of the ankle joint, the mobility scores of Functional Independence Measure (FIM), and the grip power of the unaffected hand before and after injecting 300 units of BOTOX or A2NTX into calf muscles.
