Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how to help bladders work better after they get blocked, especially when this is due to conditions like prostate problems.
  • The researchers used a medicine called rapamycin to see if it could help fix bladder issues after the blockage was removed in rats.
  • They found that rapamycin improved the bladders' ability to empty and worked better than a placebo, which helps scientists understand how to treat these types of bladder problems.

Few publications describe the potential benefit of robotic-assisted inguinal hernia repair on acute postoperative groin pain (APGP). This study compared patients' perceptions of APGP, activity limitation, and overall satisfaction after robotic-assisted- (R), laparoscopic (L), or open (O) inguinal hernia repair (IHR). Random samples of patients from two web-based research panels and surgical practices were screened for patients who underwent IHR between October 28, 2015 and November 1, 2016.

Surgical interventions for knee osteoarthritis (OA) have markedly different procedure attributes and may have dramatic differences in patient desirability. A total of 323 patients with knee OA were included in a dual response, choice-based conjoint analysis to identify the relative preference of 9 different procedure attributes. A model was also developed to simulate how patients might respond if presented with the real-world knee OA procedures, based on conservative assumptions regarding their attributes.

Purpose: Low urinary flow rates are common after tubularized incised plate urethroplasty but the etiology remains unclear and may be related to low urethral compliance due to abnormal collagen concentrations and/or fewer elastic fibers in the healed urethral plate. We hypothesized that inserting a preputial mucosal graft over the dorsal raw area after the midline incision may avoid scarring and improve urethral compliance.

Materials And Methods: Adult rabbits were submitted to tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with or without inlay preputial graft according to a previously described protocol.
