Improving the Detection Sensitivity of a New Rapid Diagnostic Technology for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Using a Trace Amount of Saliva.

The early diagnosis and isolation of infected individuals with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remain important. Although quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) testing is considered the most accurate test available for COVID-19 diagnosis, it has some limitations, such as the need for specialized laboratory technicians and a long turnaround time. Therefore, we have established and reported a rapid diagnostic method using a small amount of saliva as a sample using a lightweight mobile qPCR device.

Effect of Twisted and Coiled Polymer Actuator (TCPA) on Crack Dispersion Properties of HPFRCC.

To achieve high durability and excellent mechanical performances of cementitious materials, research on fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (FRCC) containing various fibers has been actively conducted. On the other hand, in robotics and other fields, research on artificial muscles using Twisted and Coiled Polymer Actuator (TCPA), which have similar functions to human muscle fibers, has attracted much attention. In this study, use of this TCPA as a reinforcing fiber in high performance FRCC (HPFRCC) was proposed.

Association between Berlin Questionnaire Index and lipid profile.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the Berlin questionnaire index and the lipid profile, according to gender.

Method: This is a cross-sectional study. The group investigated was composed of the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health (EBMSP) employees by a sequential non-probabilistic sampling.

QT-interval prolongation due to medication found in the preoperative evaluation.

QT prolongation is an electrocardiographic change that can lead to lethal arrhythmia. Acquired QT prolongation is known to be caused by drugs and electrolyte abnormalities. We report three cases in which the prolonged QT interval was improved at the time of operation by briefly discontinuing the drugs suspected to have caused the QT prolongation observed on preoperative electrocardiography.

Anxiety before dental surgery under local anesthesia: reducing the items on state anxiety in the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-form X.

Background: It is important to evaluate preoperative anxiety and prepare sedation when performing dental surgery under local anesthesia. Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) is useful for predicting preoperative anxiety. State anxiety is defined as a subjective feeling of nervousness.
