Ultrasound-Guided Portal Placement for Hip Arthroscopy.

Over the past 2 decades, hip arthroscopy has developed as a surgical technique, with more orthopaedic surgeons attempting to become proficient in performing this surgical procedure as indications and surgical skills evolve. The hip joint presents unique arthroscopic challenges because of its anatomic location, and it can be challenging to safely and confidently establish portal sites. Ultrasound-guided hip arthroscopy portal placement is not yet common practice for orthopaedic surgeons.

Pharmacist and physician views on collaborative practice: Findings from the community pharmaceutical care project.

Background: Strong working relationships between pharmacists and physicians are needed to optimize patient care. Understanding attitudes and barriers to collaboration between pharmacists and physicians may help with delivery of primary health care services. The objective of this study was to capture the opinions of family physicians and community pharmacists in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) regarding collaborative practice.

This study, conducted in Newfoundland and Labrador, assessed the level of awareness, perceptions and concerns of healthcare providers, health researchers, data managers and the general public about the collection, use and disclosure of personal health information (PHI) for research purposes. Data collection involved surveys and follow-up focus groups with participants. Results indicate a poor understanding generally with regard to privacy rights and responsibilities.

Fungi in the genus Malassezia are ubiquitous skin residents of humans and other warm-blooded animals. Malassezia are involved in disorders including dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, which together affect >50% of humans. Despite the importance of Malassezia in common skin diseases, remarkably little is known at the molecular level.
