Teamwork facilitation and conflict resolution training in a HyFlex course during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: We evaluated the effect of three teaching strategies to facilitate teamwork in a systems analysis and design course during the COVID-19 pandemic: (1) offering a HyFlex version of the course, (2) facilitating scheduled online teamwork sessions for all students, and (3) providing conflict resolution training to help teams overcome collaboration challenges.

Purpose/hypothesis: To identify the impact of these instructional strategies and answer four research questions, we measured (1) performance, dynamics, and cooperation strategies of teams and (2) students' perceptions of their own and team members' performance along with changes in their perceptions of their conflict management skills.

Design/method: We used a simultaneous triangulation mixed-methods design to obtain distinct but complementary qualitative and quantitative data.

Difficulties in the diagnosis of HbS/beta thalassemia: Really a mild disease?

Background: HbS/b cases having clinical, hematologic and electrophoretic similarities cannot be sufficiently distinguished from sickle cell anemia cases and are misdiagnosed as sickle cell anemia. This study will investigate the congruence between the HPLC thalassemia scanning tests and the laboratory findings compared to the DNA sequence analysis results of the patients diagnosed with SCA between 2016 and 2020. This study also aims to indicate the current status to accurately diagnose sickle cell anemia and HbS/b in the light of hematologic, electrophoretic and molecular studies.

Sickle cell trait is a medical condition caused by the presence of both mutant Hb S (: c.20A>T) and normal Hb A alleles. Although sickle cell trait is typically considered to be asymptomatic and benign, genetic modifiers and mutations can lead to severe clinical complications.

Protective effects of estrogen and bortezomib in kidney tissue of post-menopausal rats: an ultrastructural study.

Purpose: Symptoms and disorders related to menopause and its associated estrogen deficiency have become a considerable health concern worldwide. Ovarian hormone depletion/estrogen deficiency can be usefully studied using animal models after removal of the ovaries [ovariectomy (Ovx)]. This study assessed renal changes after Ovx-induced estrogen deficiency in a rat model.

Synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of Fe(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes with 2,6-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl) pyridine ligand.

2,6-Bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine (L) ligand and complexes [M(L)Cl(2)] and [Fe(L)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (M=Zn, Cd, Hg) have been synthesized. The geometries of the [M(L)Cl(2)] complexes were derived from theoretical calculation in DGauss/DFT level (DZVP basis set) on CACHE. The central M(II) ion is penta-coordinated and surrounded by N(3)Cl(2) environment, adopting a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry.
