Purpose: This study aimed to identify whether the ratio of the vertebral Hounsfield unit to serum pentosidine (H/P ratio), which reflects bone density and quality, can predict screw loosening after spinal fusion surgery.

Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted in 35 patients (mean age 71 ± 10.4 years, 18 men) who underwent spinal interbody fusion for lumbar spine disease between June 2020 and February 2022.

Upper gastrointestinal triple stenosis in a patient with trisomy 17p syndrome: Case report and literature review.

Upper gastrointestinal stenosis, which can be congenital or acquired, can lead to dysphagia. The association between trisomy 17p syndrome, a rare chromosomal abnormality, and upper gastrointestinal stenosis is unclear. A 20-year-old man diagnosed with trisomy 17p syndrome was referred to our department due to recurrent vomiting.

Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SNB) using radioisotopes is a standard method for assessing axillary lymph node status in patients with breast cancer. Although preoperative lymphoscintigraphy can estimate the number of sentinel lymph nodes (SNs), multiple radioactive SNs are often identified, even when lymphoscintigraphy reveals only one SN. Importantly, metastases are not always observed in the most radioactive SN (hottest SN).
