Objective: Monochorionic twin gestations affected by Type-II selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) are at increased risk of intrauterine fetal demise, extreme preterm birth, severe neurodevelopmental impairment (NDI) and neonatal death of one or both twins. In the absence of a consensus on the optimal management strategy, we chose to evaluate which strategy was cost-effective in the setting of Type-II sFGR.

Methods: A decision-analytic model was used to compare expectant management (EM), bipolar cord occlusion (BCO), radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for a hypothetical cohort of 10 000 people with a monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy affected by Type-II sFGR.

Enhanced nitrogen (N) deposition due to combustion of fossil fuels and agricultural fertilization is a global phenomenon which has severely altered carbon (C) and N cycling in temperate forest ecosystems in the northern hemisphere. Although deadwood holds a substantial amount of C in forest ecosystems and thus plays a crucial role in nutrient cycling, the effect of increased N deposition on microbial processes and communities, wood chemical traits and deadwood mass loss remains unclear. Here, we simulated high N deposition rates by adding reactive N in form of ammonium-nitrate (40 kg N ha yr) to deadwood of 13 temperate tree species over nine years in a field experiment in Germany.

Unlabelled: In this prospective two-center feasibility study, we evaluate the diagnostic value of intraoperative ex vivo specimenPET/CT imaging of radical prostatectomy (RP) and lymphadenectomy specimens. Ten patients with high-risk prostate cancer underwent clinical prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) preoperatively on the day of surgery. Polyethylenimines are among the most studied cationic polymers for gene delivery.
