Scientific investigation on antibacterial, antioxidant, cytotoxic effects and TLC bioautography of stem bark extracts.

Objectives:  Hochst, belonging to the  family, is known for its ethnomedicinal values, particularly in treating various diseases in Africa. This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial, antioxidant, and cytotoxic properties of stem bark extracts, with a specific focus on assessing their bioactive potential and identifying active compounds via TLC bioautography.

Methods: The antimicrobial activity was assessed using the agar well diffusion method against selected clinical strains.

Introduction Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is a key health indicator for assessing optimal physical function and overall well-being. Exploring the early impact of body mass index (BMI) and anthropometric measures on CRF in non-obese individuals is essential for identifying risk factors and guiding preventive strategies to address weight-related health challenges. This study aims to investigate the impact of BMI and anthropometric measures on CRF, focusing on maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and metabolic equivalents (METs) in non-obese adult males.

Pregnancy Related Acute Kidney Injury: An Exigent Cause of Chronic Kidney Disease in Developing Countries.

Background: Development of PRAKI due to various gestation-related complication leads to poor maternal and foetal outcome. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of PRAKI resulting in CKD, associated factors and feto-maternal outcome.

Methods: In this prospective observational study patients with PRAKI requiring ≥ 1 session of haemodialysis were included and followed up for 6 months to assess renal outcomes.

Adenovirus nephritis in adult kidney allograft recipients: a systematic review of literature.

Background: Adenovirus nephritis is an increasingly recognized complication in adult kidney transplant recipients, characterized by its diverse clinical presentations and diagnostic challenges. This systematic review summarises the clinical profiles and outcomes of adenoviral nephritis in kidney allograft recipients.

Methods: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science for studies (case reports or series) with individual patient data on adult kidney transplant recipients with confirmed or presumptive adenoviral nephritis up to October 2, 2024.

Pulmonary thromboembolism in adults: Experience from a tertiary care center.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). We aimed to analyze the risk factors, clinical presentations, evaluation and management strategies as well as outcomes of adult pulmonary thromboembolism cases at a tertiary care center.

Methods: In a retrospective observational study, all consecutive adult pulmonary thromboembolism cases admitted from January 2019 to September 2020 at our center were enrolled in this study.
