[The priorities of scientific research efforts in Ukraine on social hygiene and public health organization over the last decade].

A study is presented of the structure of research on the problem "Social hygiene and public health organization" and a detailed logometric analysis has been carried out of primary research data in the Ukraine during 1980-1989. Expertise values were used for determination of the priority and development, as well as practical significance of scientific trends in the Ukraine.

[Problems in improving the public health of a rural area based on a study of statistical data on population health].

The dynamics of health indices of the Khust District (Transcarpathian Province [correction of Zacarpathye region]) population was studied from 1970 through 1990. It is concluded that statistical data on the increase of morbidity are related to improvement of diagnostics of nosological entities related to increase of the availability of doctors, nursing personnel, number of beds in the district. Reserves of further medical services to the population are discussed.

[Kidney function in patients with hydronephrosis complicated by pyelonephritis and nephrolithiasis].

The authors studied the renal plasma flow, glomerular filtration, indices of osmoregulating and ion-regulating renal function in 382 patients with hydronephrosis. Regularities of functional changes in the absence of infection, pyelonephritis and nephrolithiasis with uni- and bilateral processes and hydronephrosis of the single kidney.

[Ways to reduce disability as a consequence of urologic diseases].

Analysis of the disability pattern associated with urological diseases revealed that the patient's capacity for work depended rather on the nature of the lesion in the kidney or urinary tract (uni- or bilateral involvement or the involvement of a sole kidney) than on the nosological entity. The reasons of low rehabilitation levels could be explained by a late diagnosis, insufficient conservative or operational treatment, low qualification of labor examination committee and the defects of a dispensary follow-up. The authors defined the main criteria for the assessment of urologic patient's capacity for work and, on their basis, developed a mathematical simulation model for disability and techniques for individual approach in the prognosis for the labor capacity.
