Long-term clinical outcome of a weekly 2-chlorodeoxyadenosine regimen in treatment-naïve patients with hairy cell leukemia.

Hairy cell leukemia (HCL) has a favorable clinical outcome with appropriate treatment; however, further research is needed on managing patients with relapsed or refractory disease and the risk of infection during prolonged periods. This study examined the long-term effects of 2-chlorodeoxyadenosine (2-CdA), particularly using a weekly infusion protocol, in treatment-naïve patients with HCL. This retrospective study evaluated the long-term follow-up data from 21 South Korean patients diagnosed with HCL.

Additional Dose of Intravenous Dexamethasone Can Replace Patient-Controlled Analgesia in Pain Control after Total Knee Arthroplasty while Reducing Opioid Complications.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether IV dexamethasone, within the current multimodal pain management protocol, (1) could maintain postoperative pain at a comparable level without IV PCA, (2) could reduce opioids-related side effects, and (3) whether an additional dose of dexamethasone on POD 2 would offer further pain-relieving effect without increasing the risk of complications. Methods A total of 178 patients (182 knees) who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for osteoarthritis were included in the study. The patients were divided into Dexa 2 & PCA and Dexa 3 & NoPCA group.

Therapeutic potential of anti-ErbB3 chimeric antigen receptor natural killer cells against breast cancer.

ErbB3 is markedly overexpressed in breast cancer cells and is associated with resistance and metastasis. Additionally, ErbB3 expression levels are positively correlated with low densities of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, a marker of poor prognosis. Consequently, ErbB3 is a promising therapeutic target for cancer immunotherapy.

Clinical Manifestations.

Background: Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are highly prevalent in older adults. While the association between NPS and cognitive decline in older adults is widely acknowledged, there remains a lack of specificity regarding emerging NPS and cognitive outcomes in cognitively unimpaired older individuals. Our study assessed the incidence of NPS development, its link to cognitive decline, and other factors associated with development of MCI among cognitively unimpaired older adults without NPS at baseline.

First report of iron-overload myopathy due to secondary hemochromatosis in a dog.

Importance: Hemochromatosis is rare in domestic animals, and iron-induced myopathy has not been reported in veterinary medicine. This case is the first report of iron-overload myopathy owing to hemochromatosis in a dog.

Case Presentation: A 9-year-old spayed female Donggyeong dog presented with severe forelimb lameness.
