Introduction: Most postmenopausal women with early-stage oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancer are allocated to five years of endocrine therapy. This treatment is not without adverse effects, which may lead to treatment discontinuation. This study aimed to assess compliance with endocrine therapy among postmenopausal women with early-stage oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancer and examine its association with disease-free survival.

Impact of Hedgehog modulators on signaling pathways in primary murine and human hepatocytes in vitro: insights into liver metabolism.

The Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway is essential for maintaining homeostasis during embryogenesis and in adult tissues. In the liver, dysregulation of this pathway often leads to liver cancer development. Recent studies also suggest that disturbances in the Hh pathway can affect liver metabolism in healthy livers through interactions with other signaling pathways, such as the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

Suboptimal adherence to a gluten-free diet in adults with both type 1 diabetes and celiac disease using urinary gluten immunogenic peptide measurement.

Objectives: Concurrent type 1 diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease (CeD) pose challenges in insulin dosage adjustments and gluten-free dietary adherence. Urine testing for gluten immunogenic peptides (GIP) is a new method to detect gluten exposure within the last 3-12 h. Our aims were to compare gluten-free dietary adherence between T1D + CeD and CeD individuals and evaluate urinary GIP testing in an outpatient setting.

Successful Amendment of an Existing Hepatitis B Screening Programme by a Guideline Recommended Hepatitis D Screening in the Primary Care Setting.

Background: Despite European guidelines recommending anti-hepatitis D virus (HDV) screening for all hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive cases, screening rates remain insufficient.

Aims: We analysed anti-HDV screening rates in primary care and implemented prospective HDV screening in HBsAg-positive cases identified in the preventive medical examination from the age of 35 ("Check-Up 35+").

Methods: From 2012 to 2021, we reviewed anti-HDV and HDV RNA test rates in HBsAg-positive patients at 11 sites of a large German laboratory group.
