Background: Resting metabolic rate (RMR) and total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) decrease with aging, but it is not known whether frailty modulates this association. We hypothesize that RMR and TDEE values are similar between younger and older nonfrail older adults, whereas they are lower in older prefrail and frail compared with younger adults.

Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of the FRADEA study, Albacete (Spain), including 402 participants (213 women) older than 70 years (mean age 76 years; range 70-91), was conducted.

Introduction: It is controversial whether microscopic invasion of the bladder neck (BN) has a high risk for biochemical progression following radical prostatectomy (RP). The tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) classification for prostate cancer considers BN involvement to be pT4 disease, equivalent to rectal or external sphincter invasion, however, it does not specify whether the invasion is macroscopic or microscopic.

Objective: In the 1997 TNM staging system, tumors were classified into a single subdivision: T2a, and bilateral tumor involvement (T2b). In the 2002 TNM staging system, tumors are subclassified as T2a (less than one half of one lobe involvement), T2b (more than one half of one lobe involvement), and T2c (bilateral involvement). A recent study questioned the existence of a true pathologic pT2b tumor.

There have been described abnormalities in the lipoprotein profile of hyperuricemic patients, it has not been clarified wether these abnormalities are due to the hyperuricemia or to the hyperlipidemia often associated to these patients.
