Background: The ETV6-NTRK3 gene fusion is present in the majority of cases of infantile fibrosarcoma (IFS) and acts as a potent oncogenic driver. We report the very rapid, complete, and sustained response of an advanced, chemotherapy-refractory, recurrent IFS to targeted treatment with the oral tropomyosin receptor kinase (TRK) inhibitor larotrectinib.

Patient And Methods: A male infant born with a large congenital IFS of the tongue had the tumour surgically resected at age 4 days.

The HIV-1 envelope protein (Env) has evolved to subvert the host immune system, hindering viral control by the host. The tryptophan metabolic enzyme kynureninase (KYNU) is mimicked by a portion of the HIV Env gp41 membrane proximal region (MPER) and is cross-reactive with the HIV broadly neutralizing Ab (bnAb) 2F5. Molecular mimicry of host proteins by pathogens can lead to autoimmune disease.

Pilocytic astrocytomas correspond to low-grade gliomas and therefore metastasize exceedingly rare. However, pilocytic astrocytomas are able to and leptomeningeal dissemination may be seen. What are the treatment options of these cases? We present a case report of a 3-year-old child with a pilocytic astrocytoma of the optic chiasm with leptomeningeal dissemination of the spinal meninges.
