The space environment can affect the function of all physiological systems, including the properties of cell membranes. Our goal in this study was to explore the effect of simulated microgravity (SMG) on the cellular uptake of small molecules based on reported microgravity-induced changes in membrane properties. SMG was applied to cultured cells using a random-positioning machine for up to three hours.

The widespread availability of smart devices has facilitated the use of medical photography, yet photodocumentation workflows are seldom implemented in healthcare organizations due to integration challenges with electronic health records (EHR) and standard clinical workflows. This manuscript details the implementation of a comprehensive photodocumentation workflow across all phases of care at a large healthcare organization, emphasizing efficiency and patient safety. From November 2018 to December 2023, healthcare workers at our institution uploaded nearly 32,000 photodocuments spanning 54 medical specialties.

The broad and substantial educational harm caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has motivated large federal, state, and local investments in academic recovery. However, the success of these efforts depends in part on students' regular school attendance. Using state-level data, I show that the rate of chronic absenteeism among US public-school students grew substantially as students returned to in-person instruction.
