Does Ultra-Endurance Passion Make Athletes Happy?

Sport psychology research of ultra-endurance (UE) athletes focused predominantly on their psychological characteristics, traits, and behaviors. However, their happiness and passion, as well as a unified framework for UE hobby phenomenon, were not sufficiently investigated. This study aims to: (1) identify the main contributors to happiness and passion of non-professional UE athletes; and (2) explore the possible relationships between types of sport passion, motivation, and athletic identity.

A new temporal framework for the passionate engagement journey of ultra-endurance athletes: A qualitative investigation.

The explosion of popularity of ultra-endurance (UE) sports in the last 20 years has attracted a lot of interest amongst sport psychologists who studied many aspects of their participants. However, a temporal perspective on the development of the UE engagement was missing. With this research we aimed to explore the long-term individual journeys of UE athletes and how their passion developed over time from the moment of inception to full adoption of UE as an identity and a lifestyle.

From diagnosis of colorectal cancer to diagnosis of Lynch syndrome: The RM Partners quality improvement project.

Aim: The UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guideline DG27 recommends universal testing for Lynch syndrome (LS) in all newly diagnosed colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. However, DG27 guideline implementation varies significantly by geography. This quality improvement project (QIP) was developed to measure variation and deliver an effective diagnostic pathway from diagnosis of CRC to diagnosis of LS within the RM Partners (RMP) West London cancer alliance.

Hole-vibronic coupling in oligothiophenes: impact of backbone torsional flexibility on relaxation energies.

Density functional theory calculations together with highly resolved gas-phase ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy have been applied to oligothiophene chains with up to eight thiophene rings. One of the important parameters governing the charge transport properties in the condensed phase is the amount of energy relaxation upon ionization. Here, we investigate the impact on this parameter of the backbone flexibility present in oligothiophenes as a result of inter-ring torsional motions.
