Imaging spectrum of renal oncocytomas: a pictorial review with pathologic correlation.

Objectives: The purpose of this pictorial review is to present the imaging spectrum of renal oncocytomas with radiological-pathological correlation.

Conclusion: The differences in tumour cellularity (high cellularity or low cellularity with abundant stroma) and haemorrhagic/cystic change contribute to a wide spectrum of imaging findings of renal oncocytomas. Imaging findings substantially overlap those of common subtypes of clear cell and non-clear cell renal cell carcinomas.

Preaortic interazygous vein; mimicker of other pathologies.

We present a case of preaortic interazygous vein found incidentally in a patient with a breast mass and back pain. Enhanced CT showed a vascular structure surrounding the left anterior portion of the thoracic aorta at the level of T8, which was continuous to the azygous vein on the right side and to the hemiazygous vein on the left. This finding represents preaortic interazygous vein crossing anterior to the aorta.

Comparison of size of proximal gastric pouch and short-term weight loss following routine upper gastrointestinal contrast study after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

Background: The authors investigated whether there is any correlation between gastric pouch size measured by routine upper gastrointestinal contrast study (UGI) after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) and short-term weight loss.

Methods: The study group consisted of 82 patients (66F, 16M) who underwent LRYGBP. Body mass index before surgery ranged from 35.

CT fluoroscopy: technique and utility in guiding biopsies of transiently enhancing hepatic masses.

We evaluated a new percutaneous biopsy technique for rapid needle localization and biopsy of transiently enhancing focal hepatic masses. Three biopsies in three patients were completed on lesions 18-22 mm in diameter by using computed tomographic fluoroscopy during intravenous contrast enhancement of the liver. All three biopsies were diagnostic.
