The management of locally advanced esophageal cancer typically involves esophagectomy; however, postoperative complications, particularly anastomotic stricture, remain prevalent. Anastomotic stricture can severely compromise patients' quality of life by leading to difficulties in food intake. Although endoscopic balloon dilation has become a standard treatment for gastrointestinal strictures, its efficacy is often limited due to the risk of perforation and the potential for recurrent stricture, necessitating multiple interventions.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been linked to severe pneumonia and systemic deterioration in humans. When antiviral drugs and antibodies are not available, it is preferable to choose early treatment methods to suppress cytokine storms. While an interleukin-6 receptor antagonist has proven effective in controlling cytokine storms in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia, it can also increase susceptibility to secondary infections, such as herpes simplex virus (HSV).

Background: Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at advanced stages, and early-stage diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is difficult because of nonspecific symptoms and lack of available biomarkers.

Methods: We performed comprehensive serum miRNA sequencing of 212 pancreatic cancer patient samples from 14 hospitals and 213 non-cancerous healthy control samples. We randomly classified the pancreatic cancer and control samples into two cohorts: a training cohort (N = 185) and a validation cohort (N = 240).

Article Synopsis
  • Human noroviruses (HuNoVs), particularly the GII.4 genotype, cause widespread gastroenteritis, and there hasn't been any research on their genetic diversity in the Sverdlovsk region.
  • A study conducted from 2022 to 2023 analyzed fecal samples from children with HuNoV-AGE, uncovering that 86% of the identified genotypes belonged to the GII genogroup, with GII.4 and GII.17 being the most common.
  • The phylogenetic analysis revealed a close genetic relationship among the viruses in the region, highlighting the need for ongoing monitoring to enhance public health responses and reduce gastroenteritis cases.

To quantify the clinical unmet need of r/r MCL patients who progress on a covalent Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor (BTKi), we conducted a systematic review to identify studies that reported overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), or response outcomes of patients who received a chemo(immunotherapy) ± targeted agent standard therapy (STx) or brexucabtagene autoleucel (brexu-cel) in the post-BTKi setting. Twenty-six studies (23 observational; three trials) reporting outcomes from 2005 to 2022 were included. Using two-stage frequentist meta-analyses, the estimated median PFS/OS for patients treated with an STx was 7.
