Reliability of Binocular Esterman Visual Field Test in Patients with Glaucoma and Other Ocular Conditions.

The binocular Esterman visual field test (EVFT) of 120 points was the first method to quantify the defects in the binocular visual field. It is used in many parts of the world as a standard test to determine whether an individual has the visual capabilities to drive safely. In Japan, it is required for the grading and issuance of visual disability certificates.

Annual incidences of visual impairment during 10-year period in Mie prefecture, Japan.

Purpose: To determine the annual incidence of visual impairment in a Japanese population during a 10-year period.

Methods: We examined the physical disability certificates issued yearly between 2004 and 2013 in Mie prefecture, Japan. During this period 2468 visually impaired people were registered under the newly defined Act on Welfare of the Physically Disabled Persons' criteria.

A case report: rare case of primary transitional cell carcinoma of the fallopian tube.

Carcinomas other than adenocarcinomas are extremely rare in the fallopian tube. A 42-year-old woman with watery, intermittent vaginal discharge was found to have a left adnexal tumor. This case was diagnosed as primary carcinoma of the fallopian tube, FIGO Stage Ia.

Intrinsic ureteric involvement by endometriosis: a case report.

Endometriosis occasionally involves the urinary tract, and a ureteral obstruction from this order constitutes a rare variant with serious consequences. Intrinsic ureteric involvement by endometriosis is an exceedingly rare event. This case report describes intrinsic ureteric involvement by endometriosis.

Cord transferrin and ferritin values for erythropoiesis in newborn infants of diabetic mothers.

Neonatal polycythemia is a perinatal complication in infants of diabetic mothers. The cord CBC (complete blood counts), serum iron, transferrin and ferritin concentrations were studied in newborn infants of 9 GDM (gestational diabetes), 21 NIDDM (noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus), and 8 IDDM (insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus) mothers. The RBC (red blood cell) count, Hb (hemoglobin) and Hct (hematocrit) of these infants were higher than control infants.
