Integrin family of adhesion receptors play an important role in organizing the actin cytoskeleton and in signal transduction from the extracellular matrix. The previous studies have shown that exposure of fibroblast cells to extracellular matrix proteins activates ribosomal S6 kinase 1 (S6K1) pathway in a ligand dependent manner. Recently, a new, highly homologous ribosomal S6 kinase, termed S6K2, was identified.

It was shown that fetal form of haemoglobin (Hb) is mainly connected with membrane of peripheral red blood corpuscles. Membrane-bound haemoglobin has relatively high affinity to O2, low Hill's coefficient, much higher peroxidase activity in comparison with cytosolic Hb.
