[The chemical toxicological analysis of sertindole].

Sertindole is an "non-typical" neuroleptic extensively used for the treatment of schizophrenic patients. The detection of intoxication with this medication implies the necessity of development of the optimal methods for its isolation from the biological materials and further identification. The objective of the present work was to study the influence of various factors on the efficiency of sertindole extraction from solutions, the elaboration of the methods for its isolation from biological objects, detection, and quantitative determination in the extracts from these objects.

[Effect of tranquilizers on short-term memory in patients with borderline forms of neuropsychiatric disorders].

The effect of phenazepam therapy in a dose of 2 mg daily on short-term memory function was studied in 58 patients with borderline neuropsychic disorders. Concomitant differential assessment of the changes observed in psychoemotional tension and psychopathological symptomatology over time was also carried out by using both clinical findings and results of psychological tests. The discrepancy found between the patients' complaints of memory deterioration following tranquilizer therapy and the absence of any signs of such an impairment as judged by the data obtained by special tests is explained by lowered levels of emotional and motivational tension.
