Differences in Clinical Outcomes and Patients' Characteristics Between Childhood and Adolescent Testicular Torsion.

Objectives: Testicular torsion, a condition requiring urgent intervention, can occur at any age and present with diverse symptoms. To the best of our knowledge, no study has evaluated the characteristics of testicular torsion in childhood, a less common age group. This study showed differences in patients' characteristics between childhood and adolescence and the variation across ages.

Virtual reality-based myoelectric prosthetic control training: Effects of action observation and motor imagery with visual feedback of electromyographic signals.

Background: Conventional myoelectric prostheses (myo-prostheses) training involves repetitive grasping and manipulation training, which requires considerable training time. It is necessary to develop a short and efficient myo-prostheses training. This study aimed to verify the immediate and sustained effects of action observation and motor imagery (AOMI) using virtual reality (VR) on myo-prostheses control and clarify the effect of visual feedback of electromyogram (EMG) signals during AOMI using VR.

Diagnostic performance of ultrasound for myositis and fasciitis, including necrotizing fasciitis, in pediatric patients.

Objectives: To demonstrate the diagnostic performance of ultrasound for abnormal magnetic resonance imaging findings in pediatric patients with suspected myositis and fasciitis. We compared sonographic findings between patients with and without necrotizing fasciitis.

Methods: In 21 pediatric patients, the presence or absence of abnormal T2-high signal intensity in subcutaneous fat, peripheral deep fascia, intermuscular fascia, and muscle was recorded.

Inflammation-Triggering Engineered Macrophages (MacTriggers) Enhance Reactivity of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Only in Tumor Tissues.

We have previously reported engineered macrophages (MacTriggers) that can accelerate the release of tumor necrosis factor-α in response to M2 polarization. MacTriggers are characterized by two original characteristics of macrophages: (1) migration to tumors; and (2) polarization to the M2 phenotype in tumors. Intravenously administered MacTriggers efficiently accumulated in the tumors and induced tumor-specific inflammation.
